Unwanted hair removal is a very important issue for many women and men, both for cosmetic, professional or medical reasons.
Dermitek has a great deal of experience in photoepilation and laser hair removal (over 10.000 sessions). We offer you the best systems in the market:
• Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices use a cooling lens.
• Long Pulse Neodimio Yag laser system uses a cooling lens and scanner.
• Gentle Plus Candela Alexandrite Laser uses a cooling lens.
We use those systems to get the best results at the highest safety level. Lasers must be configured to account for the different skin color, skin type and hair color of each patient. All our treatments are assessed by MIR specialists, who are educated and retrained in the USA for the use of the latest laser systems.
Moreover, Dermitek submits annual research studies in collaboration with American centers.

During the last years a new technology has been developed to permanently remove unwanted hair. It uses light or laser, and is called photoepilation or laser hair removal respectively.
The main difference between this technology and the traditional methods is that this system is the most practical, least painful, best adaptation of the skin and most efficient professional method available to remove unwanted hair.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved this laser system in July 1997, and it obtained FDA approval for permanent hair reduction in February 2000. Intense Pulsed Light generates multi-wavelength intense light for hair removal and other applications. The parameters are software-controlled after entering the patients skin type and hair characteristics.
The melanin pigment in the hair follicle and hair shaft absorbs laser light. Then, the laser energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle.
However, melanin is also in the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin, so it could absorb laser light.
Since melanin concentration varies for each type and color of skin, this system tries to give account for individual characteristics and destroys the hair follicle leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.
The laser is pulsed emitting a gentle beam of light on to the skin. This light energy is absorbed depending on the laser wavelength. Alexandrite Laser, for example, has a 755 nm wavelength light that specifically targets the melanin contained in the hair follicle. On the other hand, Neodimio-Yag Laser targets the melanin and hemoglobin in the blood vessels of the hair follicles, thus destroying them.
Neodimio Yag laser system can be applied any time of the year, on any skin and hair color, including black skin. It has recently been Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved for permanent hair reduction (March 2000).
Gentle Plus Candela Alexandrite Laser is an efficient and rapid hair removal method, targeted at light colored skins.
The combination of such systems may work on the whole hair follicle, that is, both on melanin and vascular layer, to destroy it.
Furthermore, we can improve security by adapting the treatment to each patient
Although generally no disturbing side effects are seen, some patients may develop little scabs in the skin, which will turn into lighter or darker transitory marks.
To avoid any kind of problem, it is advisable to get the hair removal supervised by a doctor, or even better by a dermatologist, and to use technology of the last generation with the appropriate check-ups.
Firstly, a medical history is prepared. Then, the specialist must account for the area to be treated, the skin type and hair characteristics, to choose the appropriate energy type and system for each case.
The area to be treated is shaved, so that hair cannot be longer than 1- 2 mm. Safety eyewear protects the practitioner and patient's eyes from the laser light during the procedure. A light spray of coolant onto the skin will be felt just before each laser pulse. Depending on the system to be used, it may be cooling gel. Then pulses are given. The procedure can take as little as 10 minutes or up to an hour and a half, depending on the area treatment and the system used.
Dermitek was the first company in Spain using a cooling device with the intense pulsed light system. This cooling module decreases the surface temperature and diminishes patient discomfort during the treatment. Therefore, higher energies can be used to improve the treatment efficiency (II National Congress on Surgery Laser . Palacio Euskalduna, Bilbao, June 1999. Introduction by Dr. Nerea Landa).
When the beam of light passes through the skin, the patient may experience little discomfort. Most clients describe it as a stinging sensation.
All of the three systems have a cooling tip which provides patients with increased comfort and reduces the adverse effects of the treatments.
Most people will require between 6 and 8 treatments in which there is a progressive decrease of the hair's density. Various treatments are needed as the hair of each area will be at a different growth stage and the permanent damage of the follicle only takes place at a particular stage. For this reason, treatments are usually given at intervals of 4-20 weeks.
Laser hair removal is a relatively new technology, and there is only data from the last 5 years. However, we can assure that results are permanent in most cases. In fact, patients achieve a permanent reduction (70% - 80%) in hair growth 2 years after treatment completion. Moreover, hair growth is held up, and hair thickness diminished.
Yes. Anyone who has his / her body waxed often during the year and wishes to forget about hair removal. Likewise, it is specifically recommended for:
- Hirsutism (excessive male-pattern hair growth in stubble, neck, chest, etc).
- Professionals: Models, sportsmen (cyclists, etc.)
- Men with too much hair in the chest, shoulders or back.
Budget is elaborated depending on hair density and the area to be treated. First consult is free and there are easy payment terms.
All treatments are supervised and assessed by MIR specialists who have been educated in the USA. They are experts on the latest laser systems and attend annual congresses to be retrained.

We can guarantee treatment success: high or almost permanent reduction in hair growth.
Anyway, our best guarantee is the staff in charge of the treatment, and their training.
Our quality warranty system is developed by permanent self-assessment on the activity, application of remedial measures - if necessary - and aftercare assessment. We examine the answer in every case. Moreover, we are currently doing research on laser hair removal.
We also take opinion polls among the patients, to help activity being directed at customer preferences.
